John is an Executive Director in EY’s Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) practice. where he provides accounting and regulatory advice to the firm’s clients. He has more than 25 years of diversified experience in the financial services industry, assisting in the implementation of new accounting standards and the evaluation of financial products and transactions.
Relevant Experience
John is currently assisting several US global banks in developing integrated CECL and IFRS 9 implementation plans, which include aligning processes, roles and responsibilities, governance and policies, systems, models and data.
John has assisted a large European bank in implementing the classification and measurement provisions globally under IFRS 9 and the impact of the new standard on its US operations.
He has led both IFRS and US GAAP accounting conversions and in implemented or performed impact assessments on emerging accounting standards, including share-based payments, financial instruments and impairment. John has led the firm’s effort in assisting a global bank’s Intermediate Holding Company (IHC) in an IFRS to US GAAP conversion which included identifying GAAP differences, drafting new accounting policies, and an IHC implementation roadmap.
Prior to joining EY in 2013, John was Managing Director, at UBS. During his career, he served in a variety of finance functions within business unit control, the investment bank and corporate center. He has extensive experience providing technical advisory services on a variety of corporate, investment banking and treasury related issues.
John is a frequent speaker on accounting topics at industry meetings and has participated in roundtable discussions with standard setters, regulators, and industry groups on various issues, including financial instruments, hedge accounting, share-based compensation, and the use of the fair value option.
