Val R, Bitton

Val R. Bitton is the Lead National Professional Practice Director for Deloitte & Touche LLP. As such, he has overall responsibility for the National Quality Network in each of the three regions of Deloitte & Touche LLP in the U.S. Val consults with client service teams on a variety of accounting and auditing matters. Val has served as engagement quality review partner for a number of clients in the manufacturing, transportation, hospitality, retail and communications industries.

Val has a long history of serving in various volunteer capacities at the AICPA. He is currently the co-chair of the AICPA In-Process Research & Development Task Force. He served as a member of the AICPA Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center Executive Committee from 2005 to 2008. He also previously served as Vice Chairman of the AICPA Accounting Standards Executive Committee (AcSEC) from 2002 to 2004 and as a member of AcSEC from 1999 to 2004. He also chaired the AICPA Task Force on Valuation of Privately-Held-Company Equity Securities Issued as Compensation from 2001 to 2004. Val was a member of the AICPA In-Process Research & Development Task Force from 1999 to 2001. He is past chair of the AICPA International Strategy Committee. Val has served as a member of the AICPA SEC Regulations Committee and on the staff of the AICPA Special Committee on Financial Reporting. He also has been a member of the Equipment Lessors Association Accounting Policy Committee.

Val earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Weber State University and a Masters of Professional Accountancy from the University of Utah.
