Chris has many years experience as a practicing CPA, beginning with a “Big-8” firm and moving to a large-local firm before joining Windham Brannon. Throughout his career Chris has provided primarily audit services to a wide variety of clients, while also serving as a business advisor and project consultant to businesses ranging from start-up enterprises to multi-national public companies. The Firm’s clients he currently serves include many employee benefit plans, and some SSAE 16 engagements for plan service providers. He also serves as concurring reviewer on most of the Firm’s ERISA audits. In addition to his client duties, Chris is responsible for Windham Brannon’s quality control of its audit and accounting practice. He has performed peer reviews for numerous CPA firms, both large and small, many of which provide audit services to employee benefit plans. Chris has held the “accountants chair” of the Department of Labor’s ERISA Advisory Council, and chaired Working Groups of the Council twice. Chris has served on technical committees of the American Institute of CPAs that directly deal with accounting and auditing issues effecting employee benefit plans, including the Technical Standards (Ethics) Committee, the Technical Issues Committee and the Peer Review Board. He has chaired and served on the Georgia Society of CPAs Assurance Services Section and the Peer Review Committee, and he currently co-leads the GSCPA Employee Benefit Plan Audit Improvement Task Force. He frequently speaks at seminars and conferences on accounting and auditing topics, including employee benefit plan matters, and has instructed numerous AICPA employee benefit plan audit and accounting courses. Chris was recently recognized with the Distinguished Member award of the GSCPA, and is a recipient of both the Outstanding Discussion Leader and the Exceptional Leadership – CPE awards of the GSCPA.
