Carole Levitt

Internet for Lawyers

Carole Levitt is the founder and President of Internet For Lawyers (IFL), an Internet research Continuing Legal Education (CLE) training company. She is a skilled online searcher and nationally recognized speaker focusing on legal, public record, investigative, and business research. She has presented at numerous annual meetings of the American Bar Association (ABA) and the California State Bar; the ABA TECHSHOW; and hundreds of state and local bar associations, companies, and law firms since 1999. Prior to her career in CLE, Carole was a law librarian, legal research and writing professor, and California attorney.
She is co-author of six books published by the ABA Law Practice Management (LPM) Section: Google Gmail and Calendar For Lawyers in One Hour; Find Info Like a Pro, Volume 1: Mining the Internet’s Publicly Available Resources for Investigative Research; Find Info Like a Pro, Volume 2: Mining the Internet’s Public Records for Investigative Research; Google for Lawyers, and two editions of The Lawyer’s Guide to Fact Finding on the Internet. She has also written twelve editions of The Cybersleuth’s Guide to the Internet (published by IFL Press).

Carole is a member of the Association of Continuing Legal Education and the ABA. She has served on the ABA LPM Section’s Publishing Board since 2003 and served four years on the Section’s Executive Council. She served on the California State Bar LPM Section’s Board for eight years, including a year as Vice Chair and one as Chair. She also served on the Executive Board of the Los Angeles County Bar LPM Section and was Vice President of the Southern California Association of Law Librarians. Carole was recently nominated to the College of Law Practice Management.

Ms. Levitt was a regular contributor to the Los Angeles Lawyer magazine’s “Computer Counselor” column for eight years and has also written for numerous magazines, newsletters, and web sites such as California Lawyer, Trial, The Internet Lawyer, Computer and Internet Lawyer, Research Advisor, Nashville Lawyer, FindLaw, CEB Case N Point, and LLRX.

Ms. Levitt received her Juris Doctorate from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, where she graduated with distinction and was a member of the school's law review. She earned her Bachelors in Political Science and her Masters in Library Science at the University of Illinois.
