Joseph Englert

Chairman and President, Export Assist, Inc.

Utilizing his extensive experience in banking, finance and international reinsurance, Mr. Englert founded Export Assist, Inc., the leader in export tax and finance management services. Since 1992, he has focused on assisting U.S. exporters to improve the financial return on their export portfolios by financing export transactions, maximizing export tax benefits on a corporate and shareholder level, and performing turnkey implementation and management services for export finance corporations and Interest Charge Domestic International Sales Corporations (IC-DISC).

In 1998, Mr. Englert purchased several foreign sales corporation (FSC) management companies, including BancOne International Services Corp., thereby making Export Assist the largest FSC management company in the United States. Even today, Export Assist continues to provide management services to grandfathered long-term lease FSCs.

In 2001, Mr. Englert purchased Exportware, Inc., a developer of proprietary export credit software, to give Export Assist an internet platform that compliments a suite of installed online export credit and client accounting services.

Mr. Englert has worked with the U.S. Department of Commerce since 1993 and teaches trade finance seminars for the Foreign Commercial Service Division, International Trade Administration and the Office of Import Administration. He has also been an advisor to the U.S. Small Business Administration, Office of International Trade. In 1999, Mr. Englert negotiated the first public-private partnership with The Export-Import Bank of the United States to teach Export Assist’s Export Lender Course to U.S. financial institutions nationwide.

Over the years, Mr. Englert has spoken at numerous conferences and national conventions throughout the United States. Most recently, he has made presentations about export finance, export tax strategies and export tax benefits at the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the California CPA Education Foundation, the Council for International Tax Education (CITE), the Farmers Tax and Accounting Conference, and the Western Growers Association. In addition, he is on the Advisory Board of the School of Business and Management for Notre Dame de Namur University.

Mr. Englert continues to maintain the company’s standing as an industry leader through the ongoing development of new products, online services and educational programs to benefit U.S. exporters. Export Assist, Inc., headquartered in San Francisco with offices in Nevada, St. Thomas (USVI), Bermuda and Barbados, has assisted more than 2,500 exporters nationwide, ranging from small and medium-sized companies to 20 percent of the Fortune 500 and one-third of the Dow Jones Industrials.
