Joseph Cruitt CPA, CGMA

After graduating from the school of business at Michigan State University in 1984, Joe began his career as an auditor with Touche Ross in Detroit. From that start, Joe has accumulated 28 years of experience in a variety of roles including director, management consultant, and executive. A CPA since 1987, Joe has served clients in a number of industries including manufacturing, health care, real estate management and non-profit organizations.

As a health care management consultant with Superior Consultant Company starting in 1991, Joe engaged in strategic projects such as the structuring of an affiliation between two hospitals as well as the development and implementation of several business plans to form physician management service organizations.

In 1995, Joe joined the Wake Forest University School of Medicine/Baptist Medical Center in North Carolina to take the financial lead in their expansion into primary care practice management first as Director of Finance for the Regional Integrated Delivery System and then Chief Financial Officer for the newly formed primary care subsidiary, Aegis Family Health Centers.

A graduate of the Executive MBA program at the Babcock School of Management at Wake Forest University in 1998, Joe joined the American Cancer Society, Great Lakes Division in 2000 as its Chief Financial Officer participating as a member of its Executive Team and bolstering the financial stewardship of the Division as well as leading restructures in the human resource and information technology functions. Joe also served as the lead in several capital building projects for the Division.

In 2012, Joe joined the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME) in Chicago as their Vice President for Finance/Chief Financial Officer. Joe is responsible for all financial aspects of NBOME including supporting the Audit and Finance committees of the Board as well as Financial Reporting, Budget and Investment Management.
Joe is a member of the Not-for-Profit Expert Panel of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and participates in the Nonprofit Task Force of the Michigan Association of CPA’s (MACPA).
