Janice Ratica CPA, J.D.

Janice is a Managing Director in KPMG’s Development and Exempt Organizations (DEO) practice. As both an attorney and Certified Public Accountant, she has more than 20 years of experience serving the unique tax needs of tax-exempt healthcare and other nonprofit organizations. Equipped with deep technical expertise and proven leadership skills, Janice has previously led the national nonprofit tax practices of both the 12th- and 25th-largest US accounting firms.

Janice serves as a tax advisor to a wide range of tax-exempt entities across the United States, including hospitals, educational institutions, charities and religious organizations, as well as trade associations and private foundations. In addition, she has also managed a team of tax professionals who completed hundreds of Forms 990/990-T on an annual basis.

Janice has counseled nonprofit organizations on all types of intricate tax matters, including unrelated business income, alternative investments, joint ventures, and political activities/lobbying. She also has experience with respect to compensation arrangements, including the taxability of fringe benefits, worker classification, and other payroll matters. Further, Janice has successfully represented numerous clients undergoing an examination by the Internal Revenue Service.
