Description

As leaders in our companies and communities, we directly impact the experiences of others - employees, clients, and beyond - every day. In this session, we will discuss how to expand empathy and compassion by increasing each participant's ability to understand, appreciate and respond to the perspectives and emotions of others. We will review the barriers to empathy, and explore specific strategies for responding to others in an empathetic way. Through small-group role playing, participants will get an opportunity to test these skills on a (newly empathetic!) audience.



Learning Objectives:

  1. Discuss how to expand empathy and compassion by increasing each participant's ability to understand, appreciate and respond to the perspectives and emotions of others.
  2. Review the barriers to empathy, and explore specific strategies for responding to others in an empathetic way.
  3. Through small-group role playing, test these skills on a (newly empathetic!) audience.
