This session will explore and navigate practical planning strategies, traps for the unwary and will demystify certain aspects of COVID-19 responses from Congress, Treasury, the IRS and SBA. We will provide a thorough and straight forward discussion of the relevant portions of the CARES Act and subsequent legislative actions and administrative guidance that has been issued since the passage of CARES Act.

Learning Objectives:
  • Determine tax treatment of PPP expenses and implications on 2020 or 2021 income
  • Understand maximizing cash flow with tax provisions of CARES Act and other COVID-19 tax related incentives, including maximizing NOL carrybacks
  • Decide when is bankruptcy the best option for a business from a cash-flow preservation and tax standpoint
  • Analyze changes in the medical, liability and business interruption insurance market landscape
