Decanting is a technique using to modify an irrevocable trust by having the trustee distribute the trust assets into a different irrevocable trust with different terms for one or more of the same beneficiaries of the first trust. This has become one of the most important techniques as more and more people realize that they would like to change their irrevocable trust. The presenter will take the attendees through this technique and provide examples illustrating situations when it can be used.
