Description

Blockchain is an emerging technology that is still in its infancy stage, but its use and applications are growing exponentially. There are many questions about how the profession will manage the changes that blockchain will bring. To answer some of these questions, the AICPA has formed the Digital Asset Working Group with the objective of developing guidance for financial statement preparers and auditors that will help navigate the challenges associated with accounting for and auditing digital assets. This session will explore how blockchain technology is currently being assessed or deployed by entities and address some of the guidance that the working group has developed.

Learning Objectives:
  • Understand the difference between blockchain and digital assets and how entities are using digital assets
  • Understand some of the accounting and auditing considerations for digital assets

Speaker(s):

  • Mark Murray, Chartered Accountant (South Africa) CA(SA), Senior Manager, National Professional Standards Group, RSM US LLP
