Nuts and Bolts of the Income Approach

Description

This session will be an interactive case study of the application of the income approach to value a business. The
case study will begin with financial analysis and consideration of normalizing adjustments and proceed through
determining a valuation conclusion using the discounted future cash-flow method and the capitalized cash-flow
method. Participants will:
• Gain a basic understanding of how to use financial analysis for valuation purposes
• Be introduced to a variety of typical normalizing adjustments to consider when valuing a business
• Learn how to analyze historical and forecast earnings to be used in the valuation of a business
• Learn to develop discount and capitalization rates to apply to earnings to arrive at a value conclusion
