AICPA Forensic & Valuation Services Conference 2012

Non-Profit Fraud

Nov 12, 2012 9:25am ‐ Nov 12, 2012 11:05am

Much like for-profit entities, non-profit and governmental entities face continued fraud and litigation risks. However, unlike for-profit entities, non-profit and governmental organizations often lack the resources and internal controls to effectively address fraud and litigation issues, resulting in the significant erosion of community reputation and donor/taxpayer trust. This session will focus on both the investigation and litigation support services that non-profit and governmental organizations utilize when faced with fraud and litigation issues, with a particular focus on selected case studies of real matters. This session will also address additional governance and reporting obligations, the impact of False Claims Act issues, as well as other investigative challenges arising from working with these entities. Participants will benefit by some “war stories” from in the trenches with tips and tools they can take back to their respective practices, including how to incorporate our professional standards into future engagements to protect the CFF and develop credible results.
