The new GAO Standards of Internal Control for Federal Government (Green Book) became effective in fiscal year 2016. All Federal CFO Act agencies subject to FMFIA and OMB Circular A-123 reporting requirements were required to complete their assessment of the effectiveness of internal control using the Green Book as the criteria for performing the assessment. The panelists will present how the Social Security Administration implemented the new Green Book in FY 2016, including how the SSA planned and conducted tests of design and effectiveness of the 17 principles supporting the five components of internal control defined in the Green Book.
