This session will discuss the role of a fiduciary as it relates to governance in a retirement plan as well as address best practices for fiduciaries, including the establishment of committees, their ongoing governance, and identifying and addressing emerging issues. Attendees will:
• Understand the role of the fiduciary in the governance of the plan, why governance is important and hear examples
• Understand what works for small employers vs. larger employers
• Review best practices for setting up oversight committees
• Understand new rules that apply to individually designed plans
• Be able to determine when the auditors should communicate with the governing body and the best way to communicate with those charged with governance
