Description

When there is a tax code violation, or a violation of the ERISA requirements, the plan can fail to qualify for its tax benefits, and government sanctions become a potential liability for the plan sponsor. This session will illustrate common errors, uncommon errors and potential solutions from an official correction program perspective, and suggested approaches a plan sponsor/ auditor can use before, during and after the issues are identified and correction is planned and finalized. Attendees will:
• Learn about the IRS and DOL correction programs with an overview of both programs
• Hear about options and issues with accrual of potential corrections
• Understand the nuances of corrections and how the process to correct develops
