Jan 19, 2016 11:05am ‐ Jan 19, 2016 12:20pm

Credits: None available.

Description

No one weds to later divorce, but most will recognize at least a possibility that the person standing next to them at the altar is a “future former spouse,” and clients with wealth will want to do what they can to protect against the financial consequences of that possible outcome. Attendees will learn:
• The differences between community and common law property states in connection with the financial consequences of marriage and divorce
• What prenuptial agreements can do concerning the financial consequences of divorce, and when they will, and will not, be enforced
• How self-settled spendthrift trusts can be used as prenuptial agreement alternatives to protect against the financial consequences of divorce

  • Dan S. Rubin, J.D., LL.M. (Taxation), Partner, Moses & Singer LLP
