State Innovations Model Initiative

‐ Nov 6, 2014 5:50pm

The State Innovation Models Initiative is providing support from CMS to states for the development and testing of state-based models for multipayer payment and health care delivery system transformation with the aim of improving health system performance for residents of participating states. Nearly $300 million have been awarded to 25 states to design or test improvements to their public and private health payment and delivery systems. The goal is to create multi-payer models, including both public and private payers, with a broad mission to raise community health status and reduce long-term health risks for beneficiaries of Medicare, Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). The program will provide an overview of models being tested and implemented across the country with a focus on the Tennessee Payment Reform Initiative.
